The biggest positive on the opening round in the league for Kilskyre Moylagh was to see a squad of players and a bench, something we haven’t being able to boast for a decade. That’s down to the commitment of the underage coaches and structures which are at last feeding through at adult level.

Ratoath on the other hand who struggled to field a team, made the brighter start and you could see they had a bit more hurling done with the better touch in the early stages, despite the conditions that you would expect this time of the year.

Once Kilskyre Moylagh got over the first 15 minutes of the second half they started to get motoring with scores from McGrath, Geraghty and the two busy former minors Cunning with a goal and man of the match Ferrell firing over from distance.

It was persistent, slopping fouling that kept Ratoath in this game with five points from free’s, leaving the half time score at 1:7 to 0:5 to the home team.

On the resumption of the second half whatever fight was left in Ratoath was gone after the first ten minutes. Kilskyre Moylagh pegged on the points and on the 22nd minute a Sean Geraghty goal ended this as a contest. The bench was released with the final score, a superb team goal executed by Ronan McGuinness one of the elder statesmen to cap of a good opening day for Kilskyre Moylagh.
