Kilskyre/Moylagh v Kildalkey Div. 2 HC Sunday 3.7.22 at Moylagh
Final Score: Kilskyre/Moylagh 0.6 Kildalkey 2.19
The first ever Hurling Championship match to be played at the Moylagh grounds on Sunday morning last saw Kildalkey eventually secure a convincing win over Kilskyre/Moylagh in their Junior 2 Championship encounter. The visitors included a few players with experience at Senior level and they showed a superior first touch and skill level to that of their hosts who were delighted to be fielding a second team for the first time in many years and which contained a number of players who had for various reasons not graced the playing fields for some time.
The visitors had opened a 0.5 to 0.0 lead before Emmet Hallinan opened the hosts account in the 10th minute with a fine point. The visitors continued to press but goal attempts were thwarted by fine saves from Charlie Usher so they had to be satisfied with points. Kildalkey led 0.9 to 0.3 at half time with Enda Mulvany and Niall Farrelly pointing for the hosts.
The second half saw Kildalkey eventually wear down their hosts who gave their all in a very creditable showing against one of the favourites for the competition. The Kildalkey goals came in the 10th minute of the second half and the second one in injury time.
Best for Kilskyre/Moylagh were Charlie Usher, Ciaran Foley, Niall Farrelly and Joe Melia.
