Kilskyre/Moylagh v Kilmessan Div. 3 HL Sunday 30.4.23 at Ballinlough
Final Score: Kilskyre/Moylagh 0.16 Kilmessan 1.21
Kilskyre/Moylagh went down to their 3rd defeat in 11 days when losing to Kilmessan’s 2nd string in this Division 3 Hurling League Round 4 match played in good conditions in Ballinlough on Sunday afternoon.
The first half was a very even affair with the sides level on 7 occasions before the hosts playing with the advantage of the stiff breeze hit the final 3 points of the half to lead by 0.10 to 0.7 at the break with county panellist Tom Shine accounting for 0.5.
A 3-point lead was always going to be difficult to hold onto playing into the breeze and Kilmessan with the wily veteran Steven Clynch operating at centre half forward had levelled by the 11th minute of the half. The hosts who were foiled by excellent stops in the 6th minute from an Oisin McDermott shot and a Kit Og Lynch follow up were at this stage also down to 14 men following a sending off. The next 10 minutes were nip and tuck but Kilmessan kept their noses in front and once they goaled in the 20th minute to lead by 5 points, they had a cushion from there to the end to allow them go on and earn a deserved victory.
